Default 2009 Crew Cab vs. Quad Cab

I'm thinking about trading in my 09 quad cab in for an 09 crew cab. It's got about 5k less miles than mine and they are both SLT's.

My questions are...

1) Are they basically the same truck with the difference being the size of the back seat and the size of the bed?

2) My main reason for wanting the crew cab is my 6' son doesn't have enough room in the back seat of my quad cab. Anyone have experience with a 6' passenger in the rear of a crew cab on long trips? More than a 30 or 40 minutes in the back and my son is complaining now.

I went from an 04 QC to an 09 CC. Everybody that has been in the 04 now raves about the extra space in the 09 CC. I even have room back there and im 6'2. Take your son to sit in it and get his opinion.

What about when your son moves out and now you have a big empty back seat, a smaller bed and a slower truck since it weighs 450 lbs more. Yea, I went from a crew to a quad, just my .02 here...

I had no idea that there was that much difference in weight.
For me, the plus was the extra space in the QC box as my rear seat is almost always empty.

I didn't realize the difference in weight. My son's not moving out for at least 3+ years. He's only 14 and a freshman in HS. I also have a 7 year old son who looks like he's going to be just as tall as his brother. I guess I need to decide if the smaller be is really going to make a big difference to me. I'd love to hear from anyone that has the CC with larger passengers.

My buddy is sales mgr at dealer and I got all the paperwork stuff they had from my truck. The shipping invoice from Warren truck plant has 5168lbs as the shipping weight with 5 gallons of gas. I seem to recall some posts on here or another Dodge forum of guys weighing the 09 crew and it was around 5500-5600 lbs.

There is plenty of room in the back of a crew cab; it's night and day difference from the quad cab.

PS- I'm 6'2"

I'm 6' and 180 lbs and have riden in my CC for hours with plenty of room. I also have some buddies that are taller and heavier and they fit in no problem at all. My only complain is the headrests on the front seats, they are huge and when sitting behind them, you can't see much at all but the back of them. I imagine it's the same for both CC and QC. I went from a GMC extended cab to the Ram CC and although is miss the bed length once in a rare while, I love my CC. It's like having an SUV when it comes to passengers.

According to the Dodge Ram Spec website the difference between CC and QC is only 30-40lbs.
